Text: Psalm 26
MEDITATION
1 Vindicate me, O LORD,
For I have walked in my integrity.
I have also trusted in the LORD;
I shall not slip.
2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me;
Try my mind and my heart.
Psalm 26:1-2
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. Meaning of Vindication
a) To prove that one is innocent of accusations
b) To be cleared of false/ wrong charges
2. Context of this Prayer for Vindication
a) The author: King David
b) There were many enemies
c) There were wild accusations hurled at him
d) He prayed that God would vindicate him
i) Show that he was not guilty
ii) Prove that he was wrongly accused
3. David’s Plea (Prayer)
a) Earnest
b) Sincere
c) Honest
4. David opened his heart and life for God to examine
a) Integrity
i) David had good principles to live by
ii) He claimed that he had lived in integrity
b) His faith/ Trust in the Lord
i) He had not turned to idols
ii) He has trust in the Lord completely
iii) He had been faithful to the Lord all his life
5. A bold statement
a) God may examine the following:
i) His mind
ii) His heart
b) Examine me
i) He was open to God to examine him
ii) This was a very honest prayer
c) Prove me
i) He was prepared for God to prove him
ii) He was sure that God would find him most sincere
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. We need to learn how to live as David did
2. Let us learn how to be people of integrity. Our word is our bond.
